Bernards Township GOP Endorses Asay, McNally to Run for Township Committee and Kickoff Campaign

Bernards, NJ - Jennifer Asay and Andrew McNally earned the endorsement of the Bernards Township Republican Municipal Committee (BTRMC) and kicked off their campaign under the banner “For Bernards, For You”. The two Republicans will run on the GOP line for a 3-year term in the upcoming November 2021 election.


Asay and McNally are first-time candidates seeking two, three-year terms on the Township Committee. Both curently serve on the township Planning Board. .

Asay, a licensed pharmacist, with an MBA, by trade has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years in a variety of cross functional, multi-therapeutic leadership roles. She currently leads the global development and U.S. launch preparation of a treatment for rare diseases for Mallinckrodt. She spent 15 years at Sanofi in Bridgewater, NJ and Indianapolis, IN. She has also worked for Eli Lilly and Hoffman-La Rouche. She currently serves on the Bernards Township Board of Health as Vice President and the Bernards Township Planning Board as Vice President. She has been involved with a broad range of youth and women’s’ leadership activities both within and outside Bernards Township.

McNally, a lawyer by trade, spent seven years in private practice before working in the office of now former Governor Chris Christie as part of his legal team in Trenton, NJ, ultimately becoming part of his Senior Staff. Additionally, he served as Chief Counsel to New Jersey’s public utility regulator. He currently serves as Government Relations Director for South Jersey Industries, the parent company of two gas utilities in the State – Elizabethtown Gas and South Jersey Gas. He also currently serves on the Bernards Township Planning Board, trustee at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, and the New Jersey Clean Air Council. He previously served on the Environmental Commission and the Garden State Preservation Trust.

We could not be prouder of our 2 incredible endorsed candidates, Jennifer Asay and Andrew McNally.”

“To help others is in my DNA and is evidenced by my volunteerism in many domains,’’ Asay said in her kick-off speech. “I know many of you from a variety of organizations that I’ve served in my 14 years as a town resident. This helps to explain our campaign theme: ‘For Bernards, For you.’ We are oriented to serve Bernards’ needs and those of its residents.


“We are compassionate fiscal conservatives who want to continue the town’s long history of excellence in municipal governance,’’ she added. “We enjoy an incredible quality of life while being fiscally responsible. I live by the mottos: Seek to understand and if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.”


McNally, agreed and praised the past and present Republican leadership of the town.


“Our township leaders, past and present, have been fiscally conservative, and have kept our town safe,’’ he said. “If I’m elected to the Township Committee, I will keep our town debt free and maintain the low municipal tax levy we’ve had for many years. I will resist overdevelopment, ensuring that our municipal resources are not overburdened. I will also support our police, firefighters, and EMT personnel. We can’t have a great community without public safety.”


“We will work hard to gain every voter’s support and look forward to victory in November,” McNally added.
